Things I have been loving recently:
Trying the Curly Girl method I've been on a lifelong hair journey, since my hair has always been uncontrollably frizzy. After watching a lot of Curly Girl hair care routines, I decided to start transitioning to better hair products and techniques to get the most out of my curly hair. It's still a process. I'm trying to use up the products I have right now (which aren't Curly Girl approved) before getting different shampoo, conditioner, and gel. However, just by using the techniques I've noticed my hair is a lot less frizz, and my waves are more defined. Once I have a solid hair care routine I may do a post about my whole hair journey if you're interested!
These Booktubers: Zoë Delaney, Merphy Napier, PaperbackDreams, Liv's Library, Pastel Pages, Daniel Greene I love watching BookTube, and I have been discovering some really great creators who are adding so much to the bookish community online. Whether it's aesthetics, book recommendations, or insightful discussions, there are some of my current favorite readers you should check out!
Sushi My fiancé has been trying to get me to try sushi for a while, but I was quite hesitant. The thought of eating raw fish was suspicious to me. But I allowed him to take me out to a sushi restaurant, and I loved it so much more than I ever expected to! I haven't explored too many different kinds, and I don't like ginger or wasabi that much, but I have been craving to try more. When you want something refreshing, sushi really hits the spot!
Arrested Development I am always on the search for good, binge-able comedy shows to watch. Friends, The Office, and Parks and Recreation are my comfort shows that I turn to when I'm stressed, and Arrested Development has now joined their ranks. It's so weird, funny, and engaging. I watched through the whole series in a matter of days and have been wanting to watch it again. I definitely think more people need to watch this show!
Maggie Rogers I found Maggie Rogers through her Tim McGraw cover, and have been loving her music. It's very Indy and Folky, which I don't usually gravitate toward, but I really enjoy her style and her songs. Light On, and Fallingwater are my current faves!
Loose leaf tea I drink so much tea. I love it so much! I got some loose leaf tea and a tea pot for Christmas, and it's been so fun making tea and exploring new varieties. I normally stick with black teas, but I'm trying to broaden my horizons with herbal teas and fruity teas. If you have any recommendations for teas I should try, let me know!
Little House on the Prairie My sisters and I have been watching through old episodes of Little House on the Prairie most every night while we're in isolation, and I have found so much comfort in the old, familiar stories and characters. I also found our worn copies of the Little House books and have been reading through them slowly with my youngest sister. It's been so refreshing, and I highly recommend them.
Fenty Beauty I allowed myself to splurge on some nicer makeup products in preparation for my wedding. I got this Fenty Beauty eyeshadow pallet, and am completely in love with it! It's creamy, buttery, and very pigmented yet natural looking. I'm no beauty expert by any means, but I am so ready to try all of Fenty's products in the future as I grow in my makeup skills.
Psych This is a show I have been meaning to watch for so long. I've only watched the first handful of episodes, but I'm really enjoying it a lot. I love the concept and the humor. It definitely lives up to all the hype I've heard about it for years!
Photography The past month has led to a new rebirth in my creativity in many different ways as I have been searching for outlets to relieve stress. I have been playing with my camera a lot, trying to practice with the different settings. I know there's so much room for improvement, but I'm finally starting to feel a sense of pride when I look at my pictures.
Ben Rector The music of Ben Rector has been on repeat for me for the past couple months. His lyrics and style are so amazing! I have especially been loving Old Friends, Duo, Drive, and I Will Always Be Yours.
Loepsie Again, I don't get into the world of beauty too much on the internet, but when I discovered the YouTube channel Loepsie, I became so inspired. She makes everything seem so easy, and I have gained so much more confidence in my skills with makeup and hair by watching her videos. Her vintage inspired tutorials are also so fun!

I'm totally interested in your curly girl routine! I also have wavy curly hair, and am always on the look out for hair tips. Love Maggie Rogers too! Found her through my Spotify discover weekly. Loved reading through the things you've been loving lately!

Deleteyesssss, so want to hear about your hair routine!!! always love new tips. also psych is one of the funniest shows. i'm so glad you're liking it!! ben rector is always a goodie. muah. gotta love his stuff - it has a total summer feel. i've been loving more time to read, running (almost hit a goal the other day and it has me motivatedddd), and the book On Being a Servant of God by Warren Wiersbe. x
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have good taste! I'll have to check out that book you're reading too.

ReplyDeleteThey're great!
DeleteI love Psych!!! And I subcribed to those BookTube channels to check out later :D
ReplyDeleteI hope you love them!
DeleteBen Rector’s music is so good. Have you listened to his Live from the US album? “Sometimes” gets me every time I listen.
ReplyDeleteJust the “idea” of sushi sounds gross, but hey I might try it when this whole thing is over! I’ve made a mental list of things I want to try when we can move again. : )
Lately I’m loving: episodes from the RobCast. Broadway recordings. Reading, outside in the sun (the best).
cheers.
k.
Oooh I'll have to check out that song now.
DeleteI had the same attitude toward sushi, but it was so much better than I expected it to be.
I've seen you recommend the RobCast before and it's on my list of things to try. And reading outside is definitely the best!
Yessss! I only discovered my love of sushi in the past couple of years. What are your thoughts on edamame? Also, I love that you're into loose leaf teas! My recent favorites have been hibiscus (cause it's so pretty), and raspberry and stinging nettles for their medicinal properties. <3
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't tried too much edamame yet, so I don't have much of an opinion on it. I'm only just now getting adventurous with my teas, so I'll have to try all of those! I'm currently loving a fruity, berry black tea.
DeleteBen Rector is one of my all-time favorites. Old Friends kills me every time. :')
ReplyDeleteThat song is one of my favorites and gives me all the feels <3
